Volunteers needed in historic walled garden: Apley Walled Garden

If you’re a keen gardener with a bit of spare time & would like to volunteer in a unique & historic walled garden. Apley Walled Garden near Bridgnorth is set in the heart of Lord Hamilton’s historic Apley Estate. The garden supplies Apley Farm Shop with fresh, local produce, as well as some local restaurants. The shop was opened in 2011 & the garden was brought back into production in 2012, after 60 years out of use.

Lady Hamilton explained "Phil Allen has done a great job for us over the past 3 years, turning the gardens round. We’re now moving into phase 2 of the garden’s modern life. Gary Peach our new Head Gardener needs some more volunteers, especially as everything grows so fast at this time of year!"

Lord Hamilton added "Gardening is very therapeutic, but also great exercise & just a lovely reason to be outdoors, especially in the summer time. Volunteering gives people the chance to garden in an exceptionally beautiful location which is otherwise strictly private."

Some gardening experience is preferred & anything up from a few hours each month. For full details, see www.ApleyWalled Garden.co.uk, email [email protected] or call 01952 730 345.
