Telford & Wrekin School Governance Service
We are seeking to recruit volunteer Governors to serve on Governing Boards in schools across Telford and Wrekin.

Why volunteer?
Volunteering as a School Governor is a great opportunity to gain school leadership experience at board level as well as transferable skills that enhance performance and employability. Most of all, you will have the satisfaction of making a real difference to children's lives and helping them to realise their potential.

The main purposes of a Governor
To work as part of a team:
• Setting the strategic direction of the school
• Holding the leadership to account for the performance of the school
• Making sure that resources are used well and that money is well spent.

The time commitment

Approximately 10 days per year spent attending meetings, visiting the school from time-to-time and undertaking relevant training.

Activity Assistant.  We hold a regular Youth Club for any young carers who want to come, on alternate Wednesday evenings (5-7pm) for different age carers (one week primary school age, the following week secondary school age). 

If you're over 16 you can support our younger group and if you're 18+ you can support both groups.  You'll work in within our team of staff and other volunteers, preparing and taking part in activities (games, crafts, lego, computer games, sports etc). 

We also provide a filling meal so you might be on kitchen duty some weeks! You'll play alongside the children, making sure they have lots of fun, and also be a listening ear if they have any worries they want to talk about. 

Join our fun-loving team and we'll pay you for any travel or other expenses and you'll receive training and ongoing support.

We are a charity working with adults with learning disabilities and autism. We are about to move out of our traditional day centre into the community based at our new hub at Blists Hill Museum.

Then we hope to be out exploring, volunteering and taking part in different activities across the ten museum sites as well as other local places!
