Dealing with face-to-face, phone and online enquiries, supported by the team.

Reception and front of house duties, helping around the cashier desk.

Completing administration procedures accurately.

Arranging collections of donations via our local van teams.

We can reimburse reasonable travelling expenses and we provide tea, coffee and biscuits. You will also be able to get a 25% discount on donated goods, and get access to an online discounts platform and virtual GP.

Our minimum age to volunteer is 17, but we can accept 16-year-olds through our work experience opportunity.

Our weekly day centres in Telford take place in local community venues and provide transport, activities, a two course hot lunch and friendship for local older people. They are all run by volunteers with the support of an Age UK Coordinator.

We are looking for volunteers to join our existing teams to help set up the room, greet members with a warm welcome, prepare and serve refreshments, wash up and help with a range of social activities and tidy up at the end of day.  

Our tea party group coordinators are a vital part of the Re-engage team.

Tea parties provide a lifeline of friendship for our older people, and the regular, warm, friendly chats and companionship provide a vital link with the outside world from which they have become isolated.

As a tea party group coordinator, you will ensure older guests know when and where the next tea party will be held and who will be collecting them each month.

Street Champions are volunteers who play an active role in taking pride in their community. They care about their local area, look out for their neighbours and want a clean, safe place to live.

If you are one of these highly valued individuals, the Council will help you to make your community spirit go even further.

What do Street Champions do?

There are a range of things you can choose to do as a Street Champion and it is up to you to decide what you want to do in your local neighbourhood. The roles are broken down into three key areas.

Doing

For example - litter picking, cutting back overhanging branches, pruning, maintaining community gardens, spraying dog poo with a bright coloured paint to deter dog fouling, linking in with the work of your local Parish or Town Council or supporting community events.

Reporting

By keeping a regular eye on your local area you can help us identify local issues, so they can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Projects

From time to time there may be opportunities for volunteers to take part in other environmental projects. This could include awareness raising campaigns or data collection for example.
