Volunteer Telford

Helping our busy store team to move goods from collection to the shop floor, including sorting items for sale, function testing, health and safety checks of goods in and pricing items.

East Shropshire Talking Newspaper For The Blind (ESTN) is based in Telford and provides a FREE weekly USB memory stick of local news and features including items from the local press and other publications, such as Shropshire Magazine and Info sound, alongside items produced in-house by the ESTN team; covering a wide range of subjects and matters of interest.

We are staffed entirely by volunteers, and operate solely via voluntary donations from both individuals and organisations, for example Local Councils and Social organisations. We receive no government or private funding as a matter of course.

We are looking for Volunteer Sound Recording Engineers.

Role:

To Record and Edit the weekly Master Recording of the East Shropshire Talking Newspaper, and produce the Master Memory Stick, ready for copying.

Responsible for the Technical Production of the Master Recording, including audio editing, time keeping and the maintenance of optimum sound levels.

A team of people act as joint Sound Engineers, (each taking their turn on a roster).

Sunday - Tuesday (HOME WORKING as necessary to complete the duties).

Tuesday Evenings  6.30pm - 8.00pm (STUDIO WORKING) Once every 3-4 Weeks approx

Why we need your help:

As a confident public speaker, you will be out and about giving talks about the charity and explaining what we do.  Whether speaking to local clubs, associations or schools, you will ensure local people know about the vital support we provide as well as helping to increase volunteering and fundraising for the charity.

What we need you to do:

Become familiar with the work of RABC in your local area in particular.

Research and book talks with organisations which welcome outside speakers at meetings.

Liaise with your local Community Engagement Manager with regard to new and/or existing contacts in the community.

Deliver engaging and motivational talks using prepared scripts as guides.

Pass nay donations and expressions of interest in supporting RABC back to your local Community Engagement Manager as quickly as possible.

Keep a record of approaches made and talks given and occasionally represent the charity at local events and cheque presentations.
